In 1966 Boris Matveyevich began the series “Hieroglyph of a Woman” and in 1967 “Sunlit”: a sign-hieroglyph on bands of bright flat colour. The painting “Sunlit” (1966–1968) is in the Museum of Fine Arts of Karelia; until 1987 he did not show his paintings at exhibitions.
