Bombs in Kutais

◆ documented

On the evening of 16 May 1906 in Kutais, Cossacks of the 2nd sotnia of the 1st Khoper Regiment were escorting General Alikhanov’s carriage; riding in front were the Cossacks Pavel Kalaushin and Ivan Melnikov. Two bombs were thrown: one Cossack was killed outright, two were badly wounded, “Pavel Kalaushin lightly”. △ Probably Pavel Aleksandrovich, a direct ancestor of the author.

Prince Trubetskoy takes command of the Convoy

◈ published source

In 1906 Prince Georgy (Yury) Ivanovich Trubetskoy took over the Convoy from his uncle, Baron Alexander Meyendorff (commander from 1893), and commanded it until 1914; Fedot’s younger brother, Aleksandr Alekseyevich, served under him as an uryadnik. △ In the family’s account of the saddle for the Shah, the report is made by “Prince Trubetskoy”: the family most likely kept the name of the later, better-remembered commander — an ordinary feature of family memory, not a contradiction of the account.
