According to Emiliya Fyodorovna, Aleksandr Alekseyevich served as a Convoy uryadnik in St Petersburg in 1904–1908; on 1 (14) May 1904, in the Convoy barracks at 28 Shpalernaya Street, his son Boris was born — the first of the direct branch of the Kalaushins to be born in St Petersburg.

In Labinskaya the saddler Matvey Alekseyevich and Pelageya Yemelyanovna had a youngest son, Matvey — the future Pushkin scholar and first director of the All-Union Pushkin Museum. The family called him “Matylyok”.
