Yesaul Stepan Yegorovich

On 17 March 1915 Podyesaul Stepan Yegorovich of the 2nd Khoper Regiment received the Order of St Vladimir, 4th class with swords and bow, and in May, by then a yesaul, the Order of St Anna, 2nd class with swords. He was killed in 1915: in the summer Russkoye Slovo listed him among those who had died of wounds, and an order of 1916 struck him off the rolls as killed in action.

Yefim Mikhailovich, yesaul for distinction

On 9 June 1915 Yefim (Yevfimy) Mikhailovich, fighting the Turks with the 1st Kuban Regiment, was promoted to yesaul for distinction in action; in 1916 he became voyskovoy starshina, and by 1 January 1917 he was assistant regimental commander. In the spring of 1915 he received the Order of St Anna, 4th class “for bravery”.

The List of Purveyors to the Imperial Court, compiled at the beginning of 1915, includes among 1,340 firms and persons “the saddle-maker Fedot Kalaushin of Batalpashinskaya stanitsa”. The family also remembers the title for Matvey Alekseyevich.
