Son of Nikolay Ivanovich, born c. 1839, an uryadnik; he kept a saddlery in Batalpashinskaya and was, as relatives remember, “at that time the most renowned saddler in the Caucasus”. Father of the master saddlers Matvey, Mikhail, Fedot and Aleksandr, of the teacher Savva and of Anna; his wife was Anna Nikitichna, “Annushka the Circassian”.
